Weight Management Injections

Gardenia and Marsh farm Practice has received lots of enquiries about the weight loss injections available on the NHS. Although the weight loss injection is available on the NHS.

All patients must have a BMI of ≥ 40kg.m2 (37.5 kg/m2 for people from South Asian, Chinese, other Asian, Middle Eastern, Black African or African-Caribbean ethnic backgrounds) and meet four of the following five criteria’s in order to be eligible for the weight loss injections on the NHS.

FOUR OF THE FIVE CRITERIA’S BELOW MUST BE MET
Athersclerolic Cardiovascular Disease (ASCVD)Established athersclerolic CVD, ischaemic heart disease, peripheral heart disease or heart failure.
Diabetes Type IIEstablished diabetes being treated with certain types blood sugar lowering medications, from a group of medication  known as SGLT1 and SGLT 2, patients must be on both medications.
DyslipidaemiaHigh Cholesterol that is treated with cholesterol lowering medication.
HypertensionEstablished high blood pressure requiring regular medication.
Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA)Established sleep apnoea, confirmed diagnosis by sleep clinic following sleep study and treatment indicated.ie: diagnosis of positive airway pressure CPAP or equivalent.
